What are the following main units of soya extruder?
The Base is a welded construction on which the extruder parts are installed and fixed.
The Stand is attached to the base of the extruder. The Spindle and the hopper with the screw feeder are mounted on it.
The Spindle transmits the drive motor rotation to the screw section of the extruder.
The Spindle is designed for long-term operation under a high axial load. It consists of casing, screw shaft and bearings.
The Hopper is attached to the stand. The screw feeder is installed inside the hopper. It feeds the raw material from the hopper to the screw barrel.
The screw feeder capacity is regulated by a frequency converter.
The funnel connects the feeder and screw section of the extruder. It is used to supply raw materials directly into the screw section. Inside the funnel there is a magnetic trap which extracts foreign metal impurities.
The drive consists of an electric motor, a drive pulley, a V-belt transmission, a driven pulley and a safety guard.
The screw section transports, grinds and mixes raw material.
In order to control the process temperature you need to either decrease or increase the interval between the nut and tip. Also if you change the outlet plug diameter, this will influence the process temperature.
The Control cabinet is a metal assembly with openable front door which carries the extruder controls and visual display instruments.
How to start the extruder?
Moisten the raw material to the optimum moisture 8 – 12%.
Fill the hopper with the raw material.
Screw the nut of outlet cup until tight and then unscrew it four turns.
Power the control cabinet
Power the switches of the control cabinet.
Switch the extruder motor ON.
Switch the feeder motor ON.
Using the frequency control, set a value of 7-8.
Add 0,7-1,2 liters of water to the first part of feedstock in the funnel in portions of 0,1 to 0,15 liters every 3 to 5 seconds.
The extrudate is discharged from the die.
Every 2-3 minutes increase the supply of soybeans with the help of regulator, first to 10, then 12, then 14 and so on.
Watch the load on the main motor. Increase the supply of raw materials until the load will increase to 75-80.
The nut in the output cup should be tightened 2 turns.
Work for 10-15 minutes.
Tighten the nut 1 turn.
When the temperature of cups (and full-fat soybean meal) will reach 80 - 100 °C, increase the supply of soybeans, while the load on the motor will not increase to 150 - 155 A.

ATTENTION!
During the processing of soybeans, soy is heated to a temperature of 120 - 150 °C, that’s why the soy extrudate "boils" at the outlet of the extruder.
The resulting full-fat soya meal must be cooled prior to further processing or storage.
It is a necessary step for preservation of soy protein.
